About

Hi! That's silly me over there. I go by tinyheat here but you can call me Cherlyn, if that's easier. This blog began as a way to document our journey into parenthood with our first baby, which quickly transformed into my motherhood journey (as papa stopped writing any more posts - but he did write a few in the beginning) and my trials and triumphs of trying to accomplish the work life balance with 2 little kiddos and a husband. Sometimes I rant, sometimes I rave, sometimes I don't say anything at all and let pictures voice my words.

 Thanks for stopping by!

jax - our first baby wagner - was born in the year of the ox on Sept.12th, 2009. he was born at home (people, that is a bottle of root beer, just sayin). he is a virgo with sagittarius rising. he is now a big brother and is doing ok with this new addition with a little hiccups here and there. he loves to kiss, hug and sometimes shove (lovingly of course) his little sister. he is bilingual (Spanish) and is always full of energy and very very goofy.

raima - our second baby wagner - was born in the year of the rabbit on Sept. 14th, 2011 (yes, we meant for them to be close in age - we just didn't mean to be that close. she was actually 4 days "overdue"). she was also born at home. she is also a virgo, but with scorpio rising. for the time being she is a total nocturnal creature. she is mellow, always smiling and likes to sleep in more so than her brother, except on weekends - of course!

*not that we believe in all the hokey astrology stuff, but its interesting. you can complete one for yourself or your little ones for free,
here.

Here are 10 things you might not (care to) know about me but may surprise you:

1. I was a vegetarian for 12 years. I stopped eating bacon (and all things animal related - but I wasn't vegan) when I was 12, and began my love affair with it again when I was 24.

2. After several boyfriends who were vegetarians, I vowed to not date anymore vegetarians! Then I met my husband, but he's a pescatarian, so it doesn't count..and he cooks me bacon on the weekends anyway :)

3. I met my husband on craigslist. Yup. You can find some snippets of me falling in love
here - on my first blog (just don't judge me. it was a blog before i had kids, before i was married, before i was all of me today - though I'm always evolving, learning)

4. I'm not a native English speaker (it's a running joke of ours - especially when we play scrabble). I was born in the Philippines and came to the US when I was 4.5 years old. (halves are really important - just ask any kid)

5. My first memory of arriving in the US, is me wearing a bluish seersucker 3 piece suit (yes, seriously) being carried by my Dad on the tarmac (remember when you were allowed on the tarmac?),and my 5 year old cousin, Maggee, tickling my feet, which I did not appreciate. She later taught me some English and I started going to kindergarten at her school and we became bestie childhood friends. To most people I don't have an accent - but to one woman I met in my early 20's - she thought I definitely had one (and my friends thought she was crazy, or racist or both).

6. I have an audio recording of myself when I was 4.5 years old just learning English. It's weird to hear myself that little and it's also quite hilarious. (And I definitely
had an accent.)

7. I didn't get my driver's license until I was 32 years old.

8. I've worked many jobs. Lots of customer service and then office jobs. I've been a barista (before that was even a term),a server, a cashier, a sous chef, a cake decorator, a receptionist, and an admin assistant. Currently {till October 2013}, I am a project manager at a construction firm where I specialize in "green" & sustainable designs and construction. I am also a birth & wedding photographer as well as a graphic/fashion designer {will be full-time in October!}

9. I lost
my mom to suicide when I was 32 weeks pregnant with our first baby. The last time I saw her was at the baby shower she and my aunt threw for me in LA. This was 7 days before she left this world and changed it forever.

10. I have about 7 tattoos, no it's 8, (and or 10, if you want to count the set I have on my forearms as 1 each) But it may look like I have a lot more - one of them is a large piece that goes from my rib cage/side to my back and a portion of my butt (yes, my butt- part of a cheek, where a Japanese bull frog sits). Just like you get a stamp on your passport to document your travels, my tattoos document  my journey through this life of mine. I hope to add a couple more some  day, especially a memorial one for my mom - I finally did get it- in February of 2015!!

...and if you made it all the way down here, wow, well thank you, I'm flattered!
